SICILY. Syracuse. Second Democracy, 466-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.32 g, 11 h), dies signed by Phrygillos and Euarchidas, circa 415-405. [ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ] Head of Arethusa to left, her hair in ampyx inscribed [ΦΡΥ] and sphendone, wearing single-pendant earring; around, four dolphins. Rev. Charioteer driving quadriga galloping to left, holding kentron in his right hand and reins in his left; above, Nike flying right, crowning the charioteer; below horses [ΕΥΑΡΧIΔΑ]; in exergue, grain ear. SNG ANS 279 (same dies). SNG München 1061 (same dies). Tudeer 54. Rare. The obverse struck somewhat off center and with a graffito on the reverse, otherwise, good fine.
